At DLC CARBON DESIGN we offer three different types of carbon fiber materials in three unique looks. Our standard carbon fiber steering wheel options consist of a 2x2 twill or 1x1 plain weave 3k carbon fiber material that come in a high gloss or matte finish. The third option is our Forged carbon fiber material. Forged carbon fiber finished product has a totally different aesthetic over its woven counterpart, which looks more like a marbled carbon fiber than a woven fabric.

CARBON FIBER WEAVES
Carbon fiber spools are woven into fabrics on a weaving loom, the most common weaves are plain weave and twill weave.
PLAIN WEAVE
Plain weave or 1x1 weave, carbon fiber fabric is symmetrical and resembles a checkerboard. The tows are woven in and over/under pattern offering tightly interlaced fibers which are highly stable.
TWILL WEAVE
Twill weave consists of a 2x2 pattern and is the most commonly recognized type of carbon fiber fabric. In a 2x2 weave, each tow passes over two tows and then under two tows. This over/under weaving creates a distinct diagonal pattern vs distance between the tow interlaces. Therefor, fewer crimps occur, allowing less opportunity for stress points to be created.
FORGED CARBON
Forged Carbon is a material composed of small pieces of carbon fiber composite material that are pressed into shape as the resin cures. The material is one-third as dense as metal titanium but stronger, and consist of chopped carbon fiber tows that are sandwiched between two layers of filmed resin. There is no distinct pattern as the fibers are oriented completely randomly, so each finished Forged Carbon product will be unique to itself.
Honeycomb Carbon
Honycomb carbon fiber fabric has a width of 50" , tow size of 3k and is woven in a Honeycomb weave. This Fabric is as durable as the standard weave with a unique look.
